Nellie Bly, neighbors, and the American flag
A Special Freedom Edition (#66) What's on your mind this morning?
Although I mentioned the awful day of SCOTUS overturning Roe v. Wade was probably coming in a previous post , I’ve been in a daze processing it. I live in the country surrounded by farms and not many neighbors. The one house across the street used to have an American flag outside, and I’ve noticed they’ve taken it down since the verdict. I appreciate this statement! They’re an older couple always working on their immaculate lawn and garden. I sure hope I can meet them soon. If you have American flags, are they still flying?
Speaking of neighbors and flags, the business next door to our house was still flying tattered American flags and trump ones, UNTIL TODAY! They are no longer an eye sore. (We live in a very strange land.) Could it be the horrors that hero Cassidy Hutchinson released yesterday might finally be reaching some of trump’s supporters, at least in my neck of the woods?
I read the quote above from Nellie Bly today and shared because it struck a very strong chord with me. If you haven’t done any research on Nellie Bly, I highly recommend watching the Drunk History episode about her. Stay safe and sane, my friends.
From sex and family drama to work woes and hangovers, what’s on your mind this morning? I’d love to read your comments if you’re so inclined to share.
Wow, Jessica. I hope your observations about the signage are correct, and that at least some of the people who were part of the former president's cult have peeled away from their servitude and finally said, enough of this loser!
Jess, you say a lot, so eloquently. This has been quite a week. In the wake of trump's cheating and lying and the leak, the Roe v. Wade decision was inevitable. But Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony yesterday was a surprise... so patriotic and heroic. She's 26, and if things are going to turn around, it will be because of courageous young people like Cassidy. She gives me hope.
