A very important day. 041522
From sex and family drama to work woes and hangovers, what's on your mind today? Welcome to a space to reflect light on three things, and please share if you're comfortable doing so. Day 49!
I have much to say about this date, but it’s simple to break down. One year ago today I hugged my parents for the first time in 398 days… 398 days. I never went that long without touching them even when I was halfway around the world or lived all the way across the country. (And at this point we live only twenty minutes from each other.) It is the day the four gems in the pic (above) were fully vaxxed, plus two weeks. We had a dance party (complete with a homemade setlist) that I will never forget. We may have all woken up the next morning with maracas by our side…
The strangest part is that April 15, 2021, feels like a decade ago to me. Maybe because I spent some of the summer after this happy day in the hospital, maybe because I still have not been able to see many other people (except for Zooms). I don’t know what the explanation is. Time is not always good.
On a different note, there’s a theory that if you have a tune stuck in your head, you can get it out by listening to it. But what happens when your partner and you learn said tune on guitar and vocals, and now it seems like it’s never getting out? “Shake It Off.”
Happy Friday, friends. What’s on your mind today?
“Big Hug Day” is a day to be cherished ❤️🥰. As a side note, I finally got “Shake It Off” out of my head until I read your MAT’s today 😂😂🎼🎼🕺🕺
This definitely jars the memory files. It was a difficult time for us as we counted the days until our Big Hug. The dance party was a joyous occasion.
Yes, the music loop we get in our heads when hearing a tune is just how we flow. And, we all have our singing ranges. 😉
And, why is this night different from all other nights? Because we can hug, gather round the table and eat Vegan Passover foods and drink. But best of all we can be together. We celebrate liberation.
This year, additions to our traditional Seder plate will include olives to symbolize hope for peace in the Ukraine 🌻; an orange as a symbol of LGBTQIA+ inclusion, and tomatoes to honor the farm workers who put food on our tables. Happy Passover. 💚
