"Waitin’ on a Sunny Day" 051322
Reflecting on summer temperatures, the importance of feeling good about your hair, and Bruce Springsteen. Day 61!
It’s (finally) beginning to feel warm in Western Massachusetts! The month of April and half of May felt personally exhausting with dreary rain, cold temps, and heavy atmospheric pressure causing some intense allergies, and headaches. (No, it wasn’t just the news or the vino.) Since many of us have been trapped indoors for over two years, I do get exuberant when the sun comes out and veggies and flowers start popping up. The brilliant Bruce Springsteen album, The Rising, was stuck in my head many nights, but I do sense brighter days ahead. The age-old conundrum is does weather really have an effect on us?
I’m advised by my doctors to still be wicked cautious and vet who I may see outdoors, and this fresh weather means I can start (hopefully) seeing loved ones again. This also means that I want to look good to feel good. Last July after a medically-induced coma and being released from the ICU, my hairstylist came to my backyard. My hair hadn’t been washed or even brushed in two weeks, and not cut since 2019. I’m very aware this is minor compared to people who lose their hair due to health conditions, but I didn’t want anyone to see me in the physical state I was in. Not even over Zoom. Maybe I’m just vain, but when my stylist came and safely did my hair in my backyard, it gave me a whole new sense of rejuvenation even though I was still sick. She came to my yard yesterday (on her day off) for the second time, and it makes a hell of a difference for me inside and out. Bless her.
It’s 82 degrees right now so I’m going to enjoy that with my family, put on some upbeat tunes, and show off my new short blond hair to the farm animals across the road. Happy weekend, all.
From sex and family drama to work woes and hangovers, what's on your mind today? Welcome to a space to reflect light on three things, and please comment if you're comfortable doing so.
The farm animals and the rest of us love your hairs! 🥰😍❤️💁🏼♀️
The pic of luscious greens makes my mouth water. What a wonderful place we live in. It is important to feel good about ourselves…farm-fresh veggies does the body good.
Spring is in the air and what it takes for one to feel strong and beautiful could just be that haircut. (The farm animals adore your hairs🐷🐄🐎🐐).
Here’s to your good health and safe summer gatherings. A summer of love.🌻💚
Now, get on your purple tutu and let’s 💃.
