"Wait, what happened last night?" 033022
From sex and family drama to work woes and hangovers, what's on your mind today? Welcome to a space to reflect light on three things, and please share in comments. Here we go! Day 33.
Don’t let the title fool you, I do remember everything. I ask this question pretty much every single morning at 6 am to my husband (who just wants to get more sleep). I ask for the recap because I woke up from a really specific and detailed dream that I’m trying to interpret. The dream was my family was driving, and we stopped for a large tortoise on the road. When we moved the tortoise down this hill we were on, there was a marsh with dozens of little turtles, and they could hop! We got in this murky water with them all, and then a bunch of people from my life were having a dance party on the side of the road. We got out of the flying turtle pond, and no one had a mask on, and we were feeling nervous but smiling. You get this, right?
I had a wonderful (three hour) conversation with the beautiful woman (above) last night. We met and lived together in Portland, Oregon, circa 2011-2013. She is as close to a sister as I will ever have. What was our first chat about when we met? Food, of course. She was curious about my neatly stocked shelves in our shared fridge of snap peas, vegan cheese, and white wine. She then told me about how she prepares her Sri Lankan red lentils. Red lentils are my favorite thing to eat, so it was fate. She’s now in Seattle, I’m in Western MA, but we do hope to see each other soon. I miss her so much. We touched on a lot of things last night, and one invigorating topic is below!
There are people who are their best in the day and some who are best in the night, but every creature sleeps. We all spend so many hours sleeping. The big question is: What happens when the body sleeps and the mind stays so active? Hence, “Wait, what happened last night?”
Love this photo. Connected forever. ❣️
My take on this dream, because you are a Vegan, you care so much about all creatures big and small. Tortoise dreams could mean wisdom and longevity for your life. 🐢 The road is open to opportunity and maybe, we are finally getting ready to come out of our shells from two years of not gathering with family and friends. 😍
And, some of us are nocturnal in sleeping cycles 🦉🦨. The witching hour is when I feel most energized. 🔮🪬
Wonderful article. 🌻💚
I love the idea of lifelong friendships and how they often begin in the most unexpected (and seemingly random) ways. That's a beautiful picture that Paul Shoul took of you and your honorary sister. May the friendship continue to flourish and grow despite the physical distance that separates you. And how about those hopping turtles?!! Such a cool image from your vivid dream!
