The Record Collection 041422
Looking forward to a virtual reception this evening, and reflecting on authors. What's on your mind today? Here we go, Day 48!
I’m very excited to be reading my selected piece, “The Record Collection” at a virtual reception tonight for the Hosmer Gallery’s latest exhibit “HOME” at The Forbes Library in Northampton, Massachusetts. Yes, I’m going to be wearing something sparkly from my couch.
Speaking of writing, I was asked recently, “Who are your favorite authors?” I didn’t have to think much, my top five came to me immediately. Picture (below) of some of my favorite selected works by my top five. (But not necessarily my favorite works by them, and certainly in no particular order.) What about you?
I am hyperaware that two of my picks, my two favorites, are no longer with us. I watch Anthony Bourdain episodes daily just to hear his perky, witty, and dulcet tones. I worship Elizabeth Wurtzel in a different way. She was a brutally honest and incredibly talented writer, gone too soon, and I’ve dedicated my long-form writings from the last year to her.
Now off to my closet to find the outfit for tonight!
From sex and family drama to work woes and hangovers, what's on your mind today? Welcome to a space to reflect light on three things, and please share if you're comfortable doing so. Happy Thursday!
Ha, I remember this photo. Your photograph memory was already kicking in to help with organizing the albums.
Congratulations on being selected to read your piece for the HOME Visual event at Northampton Forbes Library this evening. 👏
A few of my favorite authors: Stephen King // Anne Rice // Alice Hoffman // and, still love reading my Vegan cookbooks. 🌻💚🌻💚
Grateful to you for recommending everything Anthony Bourdain had to offer. 🍷 🥗
That picture of you, with We Are The World hovering nearby, is classic! Thank you for introducing me to the work of one-time Northampton resident Augusten Burroughs, Chad Kultgen, and of course, Anthony Bourdain. What a brilliant writer and thinker. I love The Record Collection story. You pack so many memories, bitter and sweet, and images into that brilliant short story. I love that it was chosen for the "Home" exhibit. Nicely done!! Good Thursday!
