From sex and family drama to work woes and hangovers, what's on your mind first thing in the morning? Welcome to a safe space to reflect light on three things and share. Here we go! Day 19.
I spent my junior year of college abroad in Dublin, and damn, that was the best Saint Paddy’s Day celebration. I think we partied for three straight days. Even though true Dubliners don’t buy into the chaos, fuck it, I was a student and tourist after all. If you’ve been reading my Morning After Thoughts, you can probably sense I am super emotionally down about not being able to travel and celebrate events with gusto these last 104 weeks.
Speaking of traveling, my close friend who was traveling through Italy for a couple of weeks just returned… with Covid. He’s okay, but he’s definitely sick. He tested negative when he left, and is convinced he caught it on the planes coming home. We had the same vaccine and the same booster. He would not be my first friend who got Covid in an American airport recently. With my lung cavity and autoimmune condition, that’s my hard reminder of why I am still being so cautious.
Also, if you’ve been reading MATs then you know I haven’t been able to sleep well lately. This little four am convo may be a reason why:
I say in bed, “Snug, you’re snoring loudly.”
He groggily replies, “Yea it’s snowing, I’m snowing really loud.”
He rolls over back to sleep, I cover my face in pillows and scream.
What’s on your mind this morning? Even if you’re still in bed, share in the comment section your own Morning After Thoughts, and then together we can all move forward with our day. Happy reading, writing, and connecting!
Cheers,
Jess
And, hopefully, one day soon we can visit Ireland and have lots of Craic. 💚🌻💚
Snowing, snoring... We're just fortunate to have a warm bed. Here's to your friend with covid, I hope he gets well soon. And here's to a happy return to Dublin one day. Your MATs are always insightful and a joy to read... about good times and not-so-good times, for better and worse. Thank you Jess! Sweet photo, by the way.
