Madmen, Minx, and Kitch Lit 032922
And does anyone know what type of bird this is in my tree below? What's on your mind this morning? Day 32!
It’s an important job as a writer to be able to read your work out loud, and I’m certainly never one to shy away from public speaking. I read this anecdote yesterday that kept me laughing until this morning because I definitely practice my work aloud to myself. The story is there was this poet who was reading a draft of his latest piece aloud to himself when a thief broke into his Manhattan loft. The thief instantly thought he’d walked into the home of a madman so he immediately turned and ran without taking anything or harming the poet. Lesson learned is reading your writing out loud not only improves its quality but could also save your life???
My husband and I started watching Minx on HBO, and I’m totally hooked. It’s about the LA porn industry in the 70s, and a feminist who wants to start the first erotic magazine for women. Just a heads up, there are many penis shots. Have you seen it? (It also stars Nick from New Girl, swoon.)
Does anyone else read kitchen gadget manuals? I spent this morning with my new ice cream machine booklet. Kitch Lit? I’m so ready to have some ice cream socials this Spring.
From sex and family drama to work woes and hangovers, what's on your mind today? Welcome to a safe space to reflect light on three things, and please share in comments.
Cheers,
Jess
Beautiful photo. Certainly doesn’t feel like Spring. 🌻 I’ll check my bird book and get back to you. Engaging piece.
I read an article that smart people talk to themselves.
And, yes I like reading manuals, especially kitchen gadgets.
Because, I’m always in the kitchen. 😃 Good luck with the 🍨 maker. 💚🌻
For the record, you never sound like a madwoman when you read aloud. You would be saved because the intruder would be hooked on your writing and your lovely voice 🥰🥰. Also, kitch lit 🤣🤣🤣
