I Smell Spring. 032022
From sex and family drama to work woes and hangovers, what's on your mind first thing in the morning? Here we go, day 23!
My husband and I moved into our new home in late October. We noticed around Thanksgiving that the couple across the street seemed to have left, and we assumed they were snowbirds. This past week they came back, and they’re already meticulously tending to their topiaries. Now the question is: Do people still introduce themselves to their neighbors?
I was part of a virtual writing space, “The Hatch” this afternoon. There were two prompts given, and I chose to journal about the promise of Spring. I’m going to share that with you tomorrow after I type it up! What is the promise of Spring to you?
Commercials for something called Dude Wipes keep popping up when I stream tv. (This is not a Saturday Night Live skit.) These sock-headed and (very) bearded bros seem to be for real about tossing their toilet paper in exchange for this allegedly manly-scented product for their bums. They’re cringingly enthusiastic about it. I’m so perplexed.
What’s on your mind today? Welcome to a safe space to reflect light on three things and share in comments. Happy reading, writing, and connecting!
Cheers,
Jess
Spring Awakening. 🌻💐🌻💚 Not even asking about “dude wipes.” 😅
Dude-wipes sound downright weird. Count me out! Our new neighbors moved in a few months before Covid, and though they seem very friendly and with a small child, we've still not formally gotten together. But we wave and say hi from across the street. Baby steps. And there are lots of things that Springtime promises, such as warmth, hanging outside more, and longer days. And everything, from crosstown rides to simply getting the mail is suddenly easier. April is my favorite month; December my least favorite. Plus I like raking way more than shoveling. Super-cool MATs today!
