Empathy, travel, and animals. 040922
From sex and family drama to work woes and hangovers, what's on your mind today? Welcome to a space to reflect light on three things, and please share if you're comfortable doing so. Day 43!
I want to thank all of you again for reaching out and being so open and honest about friendships and relationships recently. Some of the stories I heard did haunt my dreams. I’ve come to the conclusion it boils down to empathy, respect, or lack thereof. Or perhaps it’s just that people are not wired the same way. Empathy is something to be treasured these days. (But that’s just how I’m wired.)
Of course empathy and respect applies to all aspects of life, including travel, something I am SO missing these days. What was my favorite part of travel? Meeting people of course. Terrifyingly now, I’m genuinely concerned about empathy and respect (or lack thereof) from fellow humans these days. You?
And empathy and respect also leads to why I have been vegan for over 16 years. I’m not going to preach to anyone, I’m just going to show you some delicious cuisine that doesn’t involve hurting animals. All this should be pretty simple if you think about it, right?
Tomorrow I’ll get back to boozy and vegan travel adventures, hence my photo above! Happy Saturday, friends. What’s on your mind today?
That photo transports me back to a fantastic trip. You are Queen of the World!! 🏴
Empathy is such an important word, and it is interesting why some people have it more than others.
(I read this quote recently: Empathy…
It is seeing with eyes of another//Listening with ears of another//Feeling with the heart of another).
To travelling in 2022. 💚🌻💚
Beautiful picture from Edinburgh! For a project I'm working on, today I just happened to be focusing on The Battlefield Band and their inventive and cool brand of Scottish folk music. Highly recommended. And I think your thoughts about empathy are spot on. As a wise songwriter once wrote, "it's nice to be nice." And, of course, it's good to be good. Happy Saturday!
